Born in Tabriz〔(اقتصاد > صنعت و معدن ) ''Hamshahri Online'' Retrieved 13 October 2013〕 in 1945, Nematzadeh received his elementary and secondary education in Tehran and a bachelor of science degree in environmental engineering from the California State Polytechnic University in 1968.〔(Yearbook 1968 ) California State Polytechnic University〕 He was a graduate student in industrial management at the University of California (Berkeley) but was unable to continue and returned to Iran.〔(Bio ) Nematco〕
